The Challenge

Students often struggle to understand and plan for the financial costs associated with starting a new study program. Without proper financial planning, students may face unexpected expenses or financial stress during their studies. Nibud needed an interactive tool that could guide students through calculating their study expenses in a clear, step-by-step manner, helping them understand that studying is an investment in their future and making education financially accessible through proper planning.

Our Solution

We developed Wat Kost Studeren, an interactive web application built with Next.js that guides students through a comprehensive budget calculation process. The tool presents a user-friendly interface where students can select their study program and input various financial factors including tuition fees, living expenses, housing costs, transportation, and other study-related expenses. The application features an intuitive step-by-step form that takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, breaking down complex financial planning into manageable sections. We implemented real-time calculations that provide immediate feedback and personalized budget insights, helping students understand how studying can be affordable with proper planning. The platform emphasizes that studying is a great investment in their future and helps students start their study period well-prepared.
